TV Remote is a local network remote control app for smart TVs. This privacy policy explains what data the app collects, what it does not, and why.
You do not need an account to use TV Remote, and we never ask for your name, address, or payment details.
TV Remote scans your local Wi-Fi network to discover compatible smart TVs. This scanning is performed entirely on your device and local network. No information about your network or the devices on it is sent to us or to any third party.
Commands sent to your TV (such as key presses, text input, and app launches) are transmitted directly from your device to your TV over your local network. This communication never passes through our servers. Anything you type using the app's keyboard goes only to your TV.
Connection details such as your TV's IP address and pairing keys are stored locally on your device only, so the app can reconnect automatically. This data is never transmitted externally.
TV Remote uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, so we can fix problems and decide what to improve. This collects a limited set of usage and device information, including:
• A randomly generated app instance identifier
• Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and country
• In-app events such as connecting to a TV, a scan finishing, a screen being viewed, and whether a purchase was started, completed, or restored
• The brand of TV you connect to (for example "Samsung" or "LG")
This information is pseudonymous. It is not linked to your name or email address, and we do not use it to identify you personally. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data collected through Firebase is processed by Google. You can read how Google handles this data in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.
If you choose to send feedback from within the app, the message you write is sent to our feedback service along with your app version and platform. If you choose to include your email address so we can reply, it is sent as well. Leaving the email field blank sends the message without it.
Feedback is used only to answer you and to improve the app. It is never used for marketing, and it is never sold or shared.
TV Remote offers an optional one-time in-app purchase that unlocks additional features. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your payment details. The app asks Apple whether the purchase has been made in order to unlock the features, and that check happens between your device and Apple.
TV Remote contains no advertising. We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.
TV Remote is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The analytics described above collect device and usage information rather than personal details, and we ask for no personal information at any point except an email address you choose to provide with feedback.
Analytics data is retained by Google for a limited period according to Firebase's retention settings. Feedback messages are kept only for as long as needed to respond to you and to act on what you reported.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at the address below and we will do our best to help. Because analytics data is pseudonymous, we may be unable to connect it to you individually.
